Applicant Information

POLICE OFFICER

Officers of the Mayflower Police Department patrol the streets, neighborhoods, parks, schools and business districts within the city.They enforce state and local, criminal and traffic laws, investigate crimes, issue citations and make arrests, and assist citizens in need whenever possible.

Applicants for Police Officer positions must meet the following criteria established by the State of Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training, and by the City of Mayflower:

  • An applicant must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. 
  • An applicant must have graduated from a standard high school or must have a high school equivalency; i.e., General Education Diploma (GED). 
  • An applicant must have, or be able to obtain before appointment, a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
  • An applicant must be a citizen of the United States.
  • An applicant must have no felony convictions. 
  • A complete background investigation will be conducted on every applicant. 
  • An applicant will be required to pass a drug test, medical and psychological examination before being appointed.

POLICE DISPATCHERS

Dispatchers of the Mayflower Police Department monitor telephones and radios in the communication center, interact with the public and other government agencies, and dispatch police officers, firefighters and ambulances as needed.
Applicants for Dispatcher positions must meet the following criteria established by the City of Mayflower:
  • An applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. 
  • An applicant must have graduated from a standard high school or must have a high school equivalency; i.e., General Education Diploma (GED). 
  • An applicant must be a citizen of the United States.
  • An applicant must have no felony convictions. 
  • A complete background investigation will be conducted on every applicant. 
  • An applicant will be required to pass a drug test before being appointed.
